When Sony Ericsson's TM506 was leaked earlier this month, there was no mention made of the flip's support of AWS 3G. Thankfully (thankfully!), the official launch brings along confirmed support for the protocol. SE is linking up with T-Mobile USA once again, providing a stylishly small handset that sports a 2-megapixel camera, built-in A-GPS (TeleNav), stereo Bluetooth support, an M2 card slot, multimedia playback, outer / inner displays and 9.5-hours of GSM talk time (250-hours on standby). Filed under: GPS  TomTom's new "PRO" series of GPS units, the PRO 4000 and PRO 8000 aren't that different than your regular old amateur nav slab, only these have the PRO moniker, which means they're supposed to be taken oh-so-much more seriously by your corporate masters when expensed. The $330 and $460 units include perks for the "mobile workforce" like a premium ruggedized sleeve, dedicated phone support line, two year warranty and a PIN lock. Both units sport 4.3-inch widescreen displays, with the 8000 (pictured) adding on IQ Routes, Advanced Lane Guidance, Voice Address Input and Bluetooth. Neither one will do your crappy job for you.

Facebook is making the advertisements on its site "smarter" and more interactive, Forrester Research analyst Jeremiah Owyang wrote on his blog on Thursday. Owyang had been briefed by Facebook monetization director Tim Kendall on the initiative, which is slated to launch later on Thursday.
Facebook representatives were not immediately able to provide confirmation or a statement.

 (Credit: Ryan Grove on Flickr)Earlier this week, Yahoo rolled out a new mobile search site designed specifically for use on Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch devices. Some background information was provided by Yahoo developer Ryan Grove on his blog.
Grove explained that he wanted to make as few concessions and compromises as possible when it came to bringing Yahoo search to the iPhone. So the new mobile site comes with some goodies, too: SearchAssist, to auto-complete inquiries; compatibility with Yahoo's SearchMonkey widgetized results (if you're logged in), and search shortcuts like weather, movie times, and local information.
Early reviews seem to be positive. "Thanks for finally giving me the reason to get one of those damn iPhones," a commenter on Grove's blog wrote.  |
